The OSU Institute for New Venture Creation connects student entrepreneurs with advisors, funds, and resources to accelerate their business venture. There are a variety of programs and services aimed to assist and advise any student or team looking to take the next entrepreneurial step, whether that be customer discovery, company registration or applying for funding opportunities. The purpose of OSU’s Institute of New Venture Creation is to foster entrepreneurs of OSU and engage them with the Stillwater community in a way that fosters growth, learning and economic development in Oklahoma.

What’s in the Institute?


accelerateOSU is an off-campus business incubator located in downtown Stillwater at the corner of 7th and Main St. This beautiful co-working space is home to more than 60 student teams from varying disciplines who come together to grow and develop their business idea.  As the main hub for the Institute of New Venture Creation, accelerateOSU offers an extensive list of services, spaces and programs to serve student startup needs.

36 Degrees North is the OSU-Tulsa campus entrepreneurship hub. Located on Cameron St in downtown Tulsa, the space is open to all Tulsa residents and offers a state-of-the-art facility with community resources and regularly scheduled startup programs.


I-CORPS is a program created by the National Science Foundation to help move academic research into the commercial market. Oklahoma State University is the only Oklahoma site and therefore works with all Oklahoma universities to test their research idea in the commercial market, using the lean Launchpad approach. Teams that excel at the site level are encouraged to apply for the National Cohort which is a 7 week program devised to establish a viable commercial market and is accompanied by $50,000 in grant funding. For more information go to http://icorps.okstate.edu/.

accelerateOSU Business Plan Competition: Hosted during the spring semester, the accelerateOSU Business Plan Competition open to all Oklahoma State University Students as it promotes entrepreneurship and small business development by focusing on student created, managed and owned ventures. Students are provided with expert feedback and the opportunity to win cash prizes to help fund their ventures.

Pitch and Poster Competition: All businesses start with a cool idea. Before committing to writing a business plan, make a poster and pitch your idea to the judges! Contestants receive feedback on their new business idea or product and cash prizes for the top three ideas.

Funding Opportunities

OSU Seed Fund: Evergreen fund managed by the OSU foundation that provides $2,000-$25,000 in seed funding to early stage businesses working on early product development with no equity stake.

OSU Angel Group: Formalized group of angel investors interested in funding different kinds of companies from Oklahoma State University.

Cowboy Technologies: Formalized group of angel investors, comprised of alumni and friends of Oklahoma State University that funds early stage technology companies.

Entrepreneurship Club – Student organization dedicated to fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship at Oklahoma State

OSU Technology Development Center – Processes OSU faculty-generated invention disclosures and provides advice to faculty and students on intellectual property ideas.

New Product Development Center – Helps Oklahoma small manufacturers along with OSU faculty, students, and staff develop and commercialize products.

OSU App Center – A space where OSU students, faculty, and staff can transform their app ideas into functioning web and mobile apps.

OSU Research Foundation – Provides leadership and strong interdisciplinary connections between entrepreneurial and tech transfer units on campus with the goal of commercializing more OSU developed technologies.
