Incoming Freshmen Scholarships
Scholarship recipients are selected by a scholarship committee within the Spears School of Business. For maximum consideration student must fill out the involvement and leadership selection of the admissions application. Furthermore, students must select “Business” as their college on the admissions applications if they want to be considered for Business freshman scholarships. The number and amount of scholarships will vary by year.
Spears Scholar Leader Program Admisson Requirements
Admission into the Spears Scholar Leaders Program is highly selective and competitive. Selection is based on a balance of academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and demonstrated leadership abilities.
Incoming freshmen requirements: minimum ACT score of 25, minimum 3.2 high school GPA, leadership experience and participation in extracurricular activities and a desire to participate in Scholar Leaders Program activities. Renewal is contingent upon active participation in the Scholar Leaders programs and maintaining a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA.
Your Oklahoma State University application acts as your scholar leader application as well. No additional information is required unless contacted by the selection committee.
About the Program
The Spears School of Business is proud to offer the Spears Scholar Leaders Program to a limited number of exceptional students each year. The Scholar Leaders Program is personally overseen by the Spears School associate dean for undergraduate programs. Students admitted into this program receive some financial support throughout four years of their enrollment as full-time business students. Scholar Leaders are involved in a series of educational experiences and extracurricular activities aimed at providing opportunities to stretch the students’ academic abilities and at developing future business leaders through activities beyond the traditional classroom setting.
President’s Distinguished Scholarships
A President’s Distinguished Scholarship (PDS) is one of the most prestigious undergraduate scholarships at Oklahoma State University. Recipients must possess outstanding academic credentials and strong leadership capabilities. Each PDS awards varies up to $2500 every year for four years. Students must continue to meet the academic standards for the PDS program while at OSU to retain the scholarship.
Baugh, Russell and Florence Scholarship*
Amount: One half of tuition and fees
Criteria: Economics major, graduate of an Oklahoma high school, 3.2+ GPA, ACT 24-26, leadership
(Can be renewed to cover a total of four years if the recipient maintains the above
criteria.)
Boggs, James and Jimmea Lea Scholarship*
Amount: half the cost of tuition and fees
Criteria: Oklahoma high school grad, 3.2 GPA, ACT score of 24-26, leadership
(Can be renewed to cover a total of four years if the recipient maintains the above
criteria.)
Chesapeake Rural Scholarship*
Amount: Freshman year $1000, Sophomore year $2000, Junior year $2500, Senior year $3000, and an additional $500 the final semester for each internship with Chesapeake completed
Criteria: Come from a hometown in Oklahoma with a population of 20,000 or fewer, 1st consideration to incoming freshmen from north central, northwestern, southeastern, or southwestern Oklahoma where Chesapeake Energy Corp. conducts business, 2.5+ GPA, need, participation, leadership, preference to students who received the scholarship the previous year and maintained a 3.0+ GPA

Clark, Stephen C. Endowed Scholarship*

Criteria: Part time or full time, preference to incoming freshmen
ConocoPhillips Freshman Incentive Scholarship
Amount: Variable
Criteria: Students must complete the scholarship application attached to the OSU Admissions
application, select “ Business” as their college and “MSIS” as their degree on their
admissions application.
Multiple awards are given each year – all applying Freshman are eligible for consideration.
Minimum ACT score of 27
Minimum 3.2 High School GPA
For renewal, student must remain an MSIS major at OSU and maintain a 3.0 GPA.
DECA Scholarship
Amount: $1000
Criteria: State officer in DECA in high school, business major, 3.0+ GPA, full-time student
Duckworth, Rocky and Carol Scholarship
Amount: Variable
Criteria: Full time, freshman, financial need
(Can be renewed up to three years subject to the recipient maintaining the selection criteria.)
Gibson, Fred and Janice Endowed Scholarship in Spears School of Business*
Amount: $7500
Criteria: 3.2+ high school GPA, need, leadership, community service
(Can be renewed for a total of four years if the recipient maintains a 3.0+ GPA.)
Goetz, Gary and Becki Endowed Scholarship*
Amount: Variable
Criteria: Full time or part time, non-traditional student, 1st preference to a female
(Can be renewed for up to four additional years of undergraduate study, provided the
recipient remains in good academic standing with the university.)
Herod Family Endowed Scholarship*
Amount: Variable
Criteria: Full-time, freshmen, financial need
(Renewable with maintenance of selection criteria for up to a total of four years
of undergraduate study. A 3.0 minimum GPA is required for renewal.)
Horn, Merlyn and Opal Scholarship*

Hyatt, Michael S. Endowed Scholarship in the Spears School of Business*

Loy, Kelly Clarkson Scholarship*

National Merit Scholarship*
Amount: $1000 a year for 4 years

Criteria: 3.0+ GPA; need; 1st preference to a graduate of a high school located in Okmulgee
or Chandler, OK; 2nd preference a graduate of a high school located in Okmulgee or
Lincoln Counties, OK
(May be renewed for a total of four years if the student continues to meet the criteria.)
Rader, Bob and Judy Scholarship*
Amount: Variable
Criteria: Oklahoma resident, minimum 26 ACT or 3.5+ high school GPA, leadership, community
service, high school honors and awards, and maintain an undergraduate 3.0+ GPA
(Can be renewed for up to four years as long as the recipient continues to progress
toward a business degree and completes at least 24 credit hours per academic year
with a GPA of at least 3.0.)
Rickets, Arthur & Kay Endowed Scholarship*
Amount: Variable
Criteria: 1st preference to graduates of Marietta High School in OK; 2nd preference to graduates of Plainview High School in OK; 3rd preference to graduates of a high school in one of the following counties in OK: Carter, Love, Marshall, Johnston, Murray, Garvin, Stephens, Jefferson; 4th preference for a double major in business and Ag Econ or a business major with an Ag Econ minor; 5th preference for a graduate of any OK high school
Robinson, Steven and Anne Endowed Scholarship*

Criteria: Full time freshman, ACT 24+ or SAT 1100+, need, top 10% of graduating high school
class, leadership, community involvement, honors and awards
(May be renewed for a period of four years provided the recipient maintains a cumulative
