What to expect

Interested students must apply and be accepted by the OSU Graduate College to the MS BAnDS and the Master of Science in Accounting. They must meet all academic and non-academic requirements of the OSU Graduate College, as well as requirements of both graduate programs to maintain enrollment and ultimately graduate with a dual degree. The pathway consists of a 55-56 credit hour shared curriculum. With the completion of this coursework comprising core courses in each discipline, plus electives approved by program directors for each discipline, students will be awarded both degrees.

Timeline

The dual degree program requires students to start in the summer with a blend of accounting and analytics courses occurring throughout the first and second year. During the third and final summer, classes consist of Business Analytics and Data Science topics only. Students can anticipate graduation from both degrees by the end of the final summer.   

 

Program structure (56-57* credit hours)

Total credits:

• 33-34 MS ACCT credit hours plus 38* MS BAnDS credit hours = 71* total credit hours.

  • 15 credit hours will satisfy both MS Accounting and MS BAnDS requirements to meet the needed 56-57* credit hours.

• Minimum MS ACCT class credits: 24-25 hours (core + options)

• Minimum MS BAnDS class credits: 32* hours (core + electives)

Minimum total credits: 56* hours
