Online Learning Option – Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship

Program Description

The online learning option of the Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship consists of a 12 credit hour program and can be completed in one year. The program is designed to provide graduate students and working professionals with advanced, educationally based competencies in entrepreneurship. The mission of this program is to help prepare students to be more proactive, calculated risk takers who are innovative in their own individual fields of student and business. The curriculum model that guides the graduate certificate program is built around four key learning components: theory, concepts & frameworks, competencies, and experiential learning. Each course in the curriculum includes defined elements of each of these four components.


Two required entrepreneurship foundation courses (6 credit hours):

  • EEE 5113 Entrepreneurship and Venture Management
  • EEE 5663 Imagination in Entrepreneurship

Two courses (6 credit hours) from the following set of electives:

  • EEE 5653 Venture Capital
  • EEE 5223 Entrepreneurial Marketing
  • EEE 5403 Social Entrepreneurship
  • EEE 5313 Emerging Enterprise Consulting
  • EEE 5513 Growing Small and Family Ventures
  • EEE 5263 Corporate Entrepreneurship
  • EEE 5133 Dilemmas and Debates in Entrepreneurship
  • EEE 5610 Advanced Entrepreneurship Practicum
  • MKTG 5973 New Product Management


Admission to the graduate certificate in entrepreneurship program requires satisfactory completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Entrepreneurial and other work experience is preferred, but not required.

Application Deadlines

For fall admission, application must be complete by July 1 of the same year.
For spring admission, application must be complete by December 1 of the prior year.
