About the Greenwoods
Remembering where they began
OSU education started couple’s path to success
For Michael and Anne Greenwood, involvement with Oklahoma State University and the Spears School of Business has meant the addition of many world-class facilities to campus. You only have to look around for their name on or in OSU buildings involving sports, music and academics to realize what a huge impact they have had here.
In the new Business Building, opened in 2018, the financial gifts of the Stillwater couple made possible the Michael and Anne Greenwood Center for Online Excellence, where hundreds of students each year take classes and earn degrees through Spears Business’ many online educational programs.
Michael graduated from OSU with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1977. While still an OSU student, he met his future wife and fellow business student Anne Morris. Anne later graduated with a degree in accounting from the University of Tulsa. In 1980, Michael earned an MBA, also from the University of Tulsa.
Michael founded and is managing director of Carnegie Capital LLC, a financial advisory services firm for corporate and private equity clients, and serves on the board of a number of other companies. Before that, he worked as an executive for several energy firms. After a career in corporate accounting, Anne retired to pursue philanthropic interests.
Much of their philanthropy involves OSU, where the couple has been heavily involved in many areas of the university. They have not only been responsible for the Spears Business Greenwood Center for Online Excellence, but also been major donors to projects including the construction of the Greenwood Tennis Center named in their honor in 2014 and were responsible for a new music education facility, the Greenwood School of Music, in 2018.
Anne is the named benefactor of the Anne Morris Greenwood Reading Room in the OSU Edmon Low Library and is a major supporter of the OSU Marching Band. In 2018, she was named the Women of OSU Philanthropist of the Year by the OSU Foundation. Michael and Anne were named to the Spears School of Business Hall of Fame in 2015 while the couple were inducted into the OSU Hall of Fame in 2016.
“Their passion and generosity have touched this campus in many, many ways,” former OSU President Burns Hargis said.
