- What should be included in my Statement of Purpose?
Your statement of purpose should cover:
- Your motivation for starting a PhD in marketing.
- Your broad research interests and the general topics that you wish to study. This will be used to help match with potential advisors who share your interests.
- Your long-term career plans.
- Your prior research experience.
- Do I need to secure a faculty advisor prior to applying?
No, applicants do not find faculty advisor before submitting their application. Incoming students are paired with faculty based on common interests and this often becomes the student’s advisor. If you wish, you may suggest potential advisors in your statement of purpose.
- Can you waive the application fee?
The application fee is required. However, the program may cover the fee for select applicants from countries that face particular hardships. For more questions contact Zachary Arens, PhD program coordinator zachary.arens@okstate.edu.
- Will my application be automatically rejected because my GMAT/GRE score is below the 75th percentile?
No. Although test scores are important, the program considers a variety of factors in the application. The 75th percentile is a benchmark score.
- What are my chances of admission?
Admission is competitive. The program typically admits one to three students per year out of approximately 40 applications. Test scores, educational background, statement of purpose and other application materials are considered in the admission process.
