New Data Analytics Club to host Nike Director

Hi! I hope you’re doing well today. We are happy to introduce the Data Analytics Club (DAC) and what we can do for you.
Data is the oil of the 21st century. The data analytics field is booming, growing rapidly year over year as more companies and more people learn how to use this digital oil to their advantage. Every single industry is transforming because of data and there is a lot of money to be made. People in college right now are at the perfect time and perfect place to learn the skills, make the connections and join in on the incredible boom of this industry.
The need to be skilled in using data analytics is no longer confined to the IT department. Now, almost every job from the accounting department to human resources to c-suite executives work with data to improve the business. Essentially, if you don’t know how to use data analytics you will be caught lacking needed skills for your job and no one wants to be the one left out because they don’t know what is going on.
DAC is OSU’s organization for undergraduate students to explore the opportunities in the working world for utilizing data analytics. This isn’t some club that will bombard you with technical jargon and expert level information as soon as you walk in the room. We are committed to giving you access to events and connections that will help you become experienced with data analytics in any role.
What do we do to ensure that this happens? DAC puts on events that are both easy to understand and incredibly useful for entering the analytics field. For instance, our first event of the semester will feature Nike’s Director of Data Visualizations Center-of-Excellence, Tanner Ladd. Ladd will walk us through his journey to becoming a director at one of the world’s largest brands and show off the popular data visualization software, Tableau, that helped him get there. The event will be on Thursday, February 3 from 6 to 7 p.m. in Business Building 270 and food will be catered!
