Data Analytics Club set to host Datathon

Friday, April 1, 2022

The Data Analytics Club (DAC) in the Spears School of Business is hosting the first ever Datathon on April 21-22. Student teams will compete for $7,000 worth of scholarships as they analyze a real case complete with rich data from local analytics consulting firm InterWorks.

Prize money for the event is provided by the Center of Data Analytics (CODA), an OSU entity created from a ConocoPhillips gift designated to help facilitate creating the next generation of analytically savvy OSU graduates.

Teams of four students will compete for the scholarships, with each team being provided an industry coach with expertise in the data science area. Many of these coaches will be from the Management Science and Information Systems (MSIS) Industry Advisory Board or company representatives.

“The OSU Data Analytics Club Datathon is a great opportunity for students to engage with data analytics in a hands-on way, even without past experience, and will be an invaluable experience learning about its importance,” said Trevor Fogleman, club president. “We encourage all students to participate in this exciting new event.”

More details for the event can be found here or one can email DAC faculty advisors Kim Strom or Jerry Rackley
