Four presentations by Oklahoma State University business analytics graduate students were accepted at the JMP Discovery Summit in September.
The JMP Discovery Summit is best in class international analytics conference which brings statistically minded people together to explore, analyze and share about how to solve issues and improve analytics. This is a virtual event that took place Sept. 12-14.
“Our students have been participating in this national conference the last five-plus years,” said Dr. Goutam Chakraborty, director of the business analytics and data science program. “This is the first time we have had four presentations by our MS BAnDS students accepted at this conference. I am very proud of our students and their hard work in getting these presentations accepted at this conference.”
Shalika Siddique and Anand Manivannan gave their presentation on Euthanasia in Animal Shelters: Why are felines and canines being put down? Ally Clifft and Kalbe Abbas Agharia presented on their paper, Predictive Analysis of Online Chess Outcomes and Success. Zach Miller and Weston Salmon lectured on their research, What Makes a Comeback in the NBA? Brittany Burlison and Kailey Wilson spoke about their research, What is Most Important in Determining Heart Disease and Stroke?
“The summit was an overall great learning opportunity,” Miller said. “Getting to sit in on conversations with industry professionals to hear about their experiences provided great insight into the possibilities that the JMP software provides. Having my paper featured at the summit was a great honor and tremendous reward for all the hard work that was required to get the paper to where it is.”
