How do you get the SAS® and OSU specializations?

First, ensure your plan of study reflects the courses required to get this certificate. After completing all coursework and any required credentials for the certificate you are applying for, please fill-in the form carefully and provide all details (including SAS^® certification or specialization numbers, publication details, etc.). Information you submit will be verified and if found correct then the badge will be emailed to the provided address.

OSU students who are currently enrolled in either the Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics and Data Science or the MS in Business Analytics and Data Science program may earn up to five different levels of SAS^® Academic Specializations that hierarchically build on each other. The requirements for earning the different levels of certificates are below.

OSU students who are currently NOT enrolled in either the Graduate Certificate in Business Data Mining or the MS in Business Analytics and Data Science program may earn the core level of SAS^® Academic Specialization by first applying and getting admitted into the Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics and Data Science  program. Once they are admitted into the Graduate Certificate in Business Data Mining program, then they can qualify to earn the SAS^® Academic Specialization by completing requirements as stated below.

• Business Analytics—Graduate, Tier 1

  Complete any six credit hours from the following course list:

  • • MKTG 5243 – Base SAS^® Programming

    • BAN 5733 – Descriptive Business Analytics

    • MKTG 5253 – Advanced SAS^® Programming

    • BAN 5743 – Predictive Business Analytics

    • BAN 5753 – Advanced Business Analytics

    • BAN 5763 – Advanced Marketing Research Analytics

• Business Analytics—Graduate, Tier 2

  Complete any nine credit hours from the following course list:

  • • MKTG 5243 – Base SAS^® Programming

    • BAN 5733 – Descriptive Business Analytics

    • MKTG 5253 – Advanced SAS^® Programming

    • BAN 5743 – Predictive Business Analytics

    • BAN 5753 – Advanced Business Analytics

    • BAN 5763 – Advanced Marketing Research Analytics

• Business Analytics—Graduate, Tier 3

  1. Complete six credit hours: BAN 5733 and BAN 5743

  2. Complete any six credit hours from the following course list:

     • MKTG 5243 – Base SAS^® Programming

     • MKTG 5253 – Advanced SAS^® Programming

     • BAN 5753 – Advanced Business Analytics

     • BAN 5763 – Advanced Marketing Research Analytics 

  3. Complete any one of the following exams:

  • • SAS^® Certified Base Programmer

    • SAS^® Certified Associate: Programming Fundamentals Using SAS^® 9.4

    • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Base Programming Using SAS^® 9.4

    • SAS^® Certified Predictive Modeler

    • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Advanced Predictive Modeling Using SAS^® 9.4

    • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Visual Modeling using SAS^® Visual Statistics 7.5

• Predictive Analytics—Graduate, Tier 3

  1. Complete nine credit hours: BAN 5733, BAN 5743 and BAN 5753

  2. Complete any six credit hours from the following course list:

     • MKTG 5243 – Base SAS^® Programming

     • MKTG 5253 – Advanced SAS^® Programming

     • BAN 5763 – Advanced Marketing Research Analytics

  3. Complete one of the following exams:

     • SAS^® Certified Base Programmer

     • SAS^® Certified Associate: Programming Fundamentals Using SAS^® 9.4

     • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Base Programming Using SAS^® 9.4

  4. Complete one of the following exams:

     • SAS^® Certified Advanced Programmer

     • SAS^® Certified Professional: Advanced Programming Using SAS^® 9.4

     • SAS^® Certified Predictive Modeler

     • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Advanced Predictive Modeling Using SAS^® 9.4

     • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Visual Modeling using SAS^® Visual Statistics 7.5

     • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Modeling using SAS^® Visual Statistics 8.4 on SAS^® Viya

• Marketing Data Science—Graduate, Tier 3

  1. Complete 12 credit hours: BAN 5733, BAN 5743, BAN 5753 and BAN 5763

  2. Complete any six credit hours from the following course list:

     • MKTG 5243 – Base SAS^® Programming

     • MKTG 5253 – Advanced SAS^® Programming

     • Any approved elective by MSBAnDS director

  3. Complete one of the following exams:

  1. • SAS^® Certified Associate: Programming Fundamentals Using SAS^® 9.4

     • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Base Programming Using SAS^® 9.4

  4. Complete one of the following exams:

  • • SAS^® Certified Advanced Programmer

    • SAS^® Certified Professional: Advanced Programming Using SAS^® 9.4

    • SAS^® Certified Predictive Modeler

    • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Advanced Predictive Modeling Using SAS^® 9.4

    • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Visual Modeling using SAS^® Visual Statistics 7.5

    • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Modeling using SAS^® Visual Statistics 8.4 on SAS^® Viya

    • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Visual Business Analytics 7.5/8.3

  5. Complete one of the following exams:

  • • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Machine Learning Using SAS^® Viya 3.5

    • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Forecasting and Optimization Using SAS^® Viya 3.5

    • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision Using SAS^® Viya 3.5

    • SAS^® Certified Specialist: Text Analytics, Time Series, Experimentation and Optimization

   

Note: Anyone in-progress with a SAS^® and OSU Data Mining Certificate (core level), SAS^® and OSU Predictive Analytics Certificate (advanced level), or SAS^® and OSU Marketing Data Science Certificate (expert level) will be grandfathered and permitted to complete.
