Energy Business Concentration

Energy is crucial to the well-being and prosperity for societies around the world.  This concentration in the MBA program is designed to help prepare full-time students or working professionals for successful careers in the energy industry.  This concentration offers an in-depth look at finance, strategy, economics, risk management, and contemporary issues specific to the energy industry.  Students will develop business acumen to prepare them  for the complexities of energy business and decision making.

In addition to the MBA core required classes, students must complete the following courses to receive the energy business concentration.

Required Core Courses (6 hours)

  • FIN 5003 Introduction to Energy Business
  • FIN 5363 Energy Finance

Choose an additional 6 hours from the following:

  • ENGR 5010 Special Topics
  • GEOL 5990 Special Topics
  • ECON 5010 Special Topics (Energy Economics)
  • FIN 5053 Theory and Practice of Financial Management
  • FIN 5763 Derivative Securities and Management of Financial Price Risk
  • MSIS 5393 Advanced Spreadsheet Modeling
