Riata Startup Marketplace
A launchpad for student ventures
The Riata Startup Marketplace provides OSU students and student-led companies with a dedicated, high-visibility space inside the Student Union to test ideas, engage customers, and actively operate their businesses in a real-world environment.
This unique opportunity allows student founders to gain practical experience, validate their concepts, and accelerate the growth of their ventures, all while being part of a vibrant campus community.
Important dates
- August 3 – Applications Open (rolling acceptance begins)
- August 28 – Application Deadline
- September 2 – Final Tenant Acceptance Announcement
- September 8 – Marketplace Launch

How it works
Interested students and teams are invited to apply by submitting a proposal outlining how they plan to utilize the space for business operations and sales.
All applications will be carefully reviewed by the Riata Startup Marketplace Program Committee to ensure alignment with the program’s mission of advancing student learning, innovation, and entrepreneurial success.

Eligibility
- Must be a currently enrolled OSU student (full- or part-time) and maintain enrollment for the entire semester of participation.
- Must be a member of the Riata Startup Experience (RSX) or OkState Student-Made. Non-members must apply and be accepted into one of these programs before consideration.
- Must submit a complete product inventory, including descriptions and photos (if applicable). All items are subject to approval by the Riata Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the OSU Student Union.

Operations & Participation
- Submit a proposed Monday–Friday operating schedule for the full duration of participation.
- Maintain approved hours consistently; failure to do so may result in removal.
- Operate at least 3 days per week, with a minimum of 2 hours per day between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Participation in the Riata Student Innovation Expo (Fall semester).
- Actively set and work toward business goals in collaboration with the Riata Center.

Reporting & Business Requirements
- Submit a final Operations Report within two weeks of exiting the Marketplace.
- Use your own point-of-sale system (e.g., Square), including necessary equipment. Hotspots are available if needed.

Conduct & Professional Standards
- Maintain a clean, professional space and follow all OSU policies.
- No non-business guests allowed during operating hours.
- Participation is subject to ongoing review throughout the semester.
- All tenants must agree to the Riata Startup Marketplace Membership Agreement.
Failure to meet these expectations may result in termination of participation.
