Positioning yourself well in the marketplace usually takes a little extra effort—and obtaining the Certificate in Sales and Service Excellence is no exception. The leadership of the Center for Sales and Service Excellence is committed to developing an exceptional learning opportunity for students accepted into the Certificate in Sales and Service Excellence program as well as our industry partners. And nobody comes out ahead without meaningful standards and requirements for students in the Certificate in Sales and Service Excellence program.
The process begins when a student completes the application form that can be downloaded here or obtained from the Department of Marketing office (428 Business Building). The application asks for some basic information, including work experience and on- or off-campus organization involvement. (Although work experience or organization involvement are not required to be accepted into the program, the Center directors certainly value them in their admission decisions.) In addition, the form includes two open-ended questions about your career aspirations. The application form should be completed and dropped off in person to one of the Center directors (Tom Brown, 428C Business Building, Stillwater campus; Todd Arnold, 316 North Hall, Tulsa campus) or to Sherry Roberts in the Marketing Department office (428 Business Building, Stillwater campus).
Admission decisions to the Certificate in Sales and Service Excellence program are made by the Center directors on a rolling basis. That is, applications may be submitted at any time. Once an application has been submitted, the student should expect a decision within approximately 30 days; all decisions are carefully considered by the Directors and are therefore final. Students whose applications are declined may submit a second application 12 months after the initial application submission. Note: Students must be accepted into the Certificate in Sales and Service Excellence program prior to completing the internship and internship course (MKTG 3873) and MKTG 4693. All other required and elective courses may be counted retroactively toward completion of Certificate in Sales and Service Excellence requirements.
