Spears Peer Leaders

The Oklahoma State University Spears School of Business has launched Spears Peer Leaders, a mentorship program aimed at helping undergraduate business students engage with their classmates.

The student mentors, known as Spears Peers, teach the skills for success at OSU and beyond through intentional connections grounded in meeting students where they are. Spears Peers help their fellow students navigate the college process, find resources at Spears Business and OSU, and connect them with student organizations to further build a community on campus.

“Students want connections with someone who can truly relate to what they’re going through because they’ve recently experienced it,” said Dr. Marlys Mason, associate dean for Undergraduate Programs at Spears Business. “Spears Peers have learned how to navigate the ups and downs and the excitement and uncertainties that are part of college and personal growth. Spears Peers meet students at a shared point in life and are a relatable resource for student success.”

The diverse group of Spears Peers is equipped to assist students with a variety of needs while exemplifying the Spears Business motto, the Power of Personal. The program provides an additional layer of support that will empower students as they navigate their college experience.

“Spears Peers will be a considerable, positive impact on student success,” said Spears Peer Leader Bailie Burrhus, a business management major. “Giving students the opportunity to talk with their peers when they need to will allow other students that sense of relatability and personal connection. I'm beyond honored to have been chosen to be a part of this amazing opportunity and I foresee it being a huge success for students.”

Spears Peers are available to meet with any undergraduate student and can provide support and resources for a wide variety of needs. Visit their website to meet the team, contact the group or schedule an appointment.
