OSU offering two new MBA concentrations
Friday, October 23, 2020
Oklahoma State announced the addition of two new MBA concentrations in early October. Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) and Finance and Investment Banking join the 11 concentrations already in place.
“The addition of these two concentrations boosts our program’s standing as a whole,” Assistant Program Manager Kenneth Kern said. “Both concentrations provide something unique that will diversify our program.”
The Finance and Investment Banking concentration is ideal for professionals with a completed undergraduate degree who want to move into the cutting edge of either field.
Dr. Emma Wang, OSU-Tulsa distinguished Faculty Fellow; Dr. Betty Simpkins, head of the Department of Finance, and Roger Lumley, Spears Hall of Fame Class of 2019, were all vital in the creation and addition of the concentration to the MBA program.
The HTM concentration focuses upon the development of both soft and technical skills to navigate through curriculum tailored to suit the field in which the graduates will work in.
Dr. Lisa Slevitch, interim graduate coordinator in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, collaborated with MBA Director Dr. Matthew Bowler and the Dean’s office to submit paperwork for approval of the new HTM concentration.
OSU has been recognized as a top 15 Hospitality and Tourism Management school for its undergraduate program prowess. The addition of an MBA concentration in the field only bolsters that strong foundation in that field.
With the new additions, the concentrations available to MBA students are: Accounting, Business Sustainability, Data Science, Economics, Energy Business, Entrepreneurship, Finance and Investment Banking, Global Marketing, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Human Resource Management, Information Assurance, Marketing Analytics and Nonprofit Management.
