The Graduate Leadership Association of Spears offered a unique opportunity to visit three companies in Oklahoma City this fall.
The students were able to tour and meet with representatives from Paycom, Cafe 7 Catering and Love's Travel Stops.
A few of the MBA students shared their perspectives of the experience and recalled how the employer visit impacted them.
Edgar Anguiano
"Being able to visit three different businesses that are based in Oklahoma City was really interesting. Before that, I don’t think I had a chance to experience something like that. I was surprised by the insights of each individual business.
"One of the most outstanding parts I will always remember will be the visit to Love’s. I wasn’t familiar of how many side businesses they had, as well as their innovation and ventures in new related businesses, and that was something I really enjoyed to learn. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Personally, I’m grateful for the opportunity and would recommend it to anyone in any business-related program."
Natalie Friend
"The GLAS trip to OKC was an incredible experience. Touring Love's and Paycom and eating at Cafe 7 was a fantastic opportunity, giving me a firsthand look at their operations and innovative practices. Additionally, I gained valuable insights into how they foster strong company cultures. This trip broadened my perspective on what makes businesses successful."
Shiloh Johnson, GLAS president
"I greatly enjoyed the opportunity to visit companies in OKC with GLAS. Seeing the business offices and interacting with current employees gives invaluable firsthand insight into the culture of these companies. As GLAS president, I had the opportunity to be involved in the planning of the event, and that alone has given me great lessons on balancing the needs of stakeholders — the students — and logistics. I'm excited to see more opportunities like this for Spears graduate students in the future."
