ConocoPhillips pledges support for Accounting Collaborative for Excellence (ACE) Lab

Wednesday, October 7, 2020

Students working in the ACE labOSU’s Accounting Collaborative for Excellence (ACE) Lab has a new lead sponsor in ConocoPhillips, which has pledged a $200,000 donation.

The ACE Lab provides mentoring, tutoring and advising on a walk-in basis (and now virtual) to students in the School of Accounting, a part of the Spears School of Business. Each year, ACE averages more than 4,000 support hours, which wouldn’t be possible without the generous contributions of corporate partners such as ConocoPhillips.

ConocoPhillips’ donation will allow the ACE Lab to continue supporting students and helping ACE Scholars develop leadership skills.

“ConocoPhillips is proud to be the lead sponsor of the ACE Lab,” said Chris Delk, vice president and general tax counsel at ConocoPhillips. “Oklahoma State University is a key recruiting partner for ConocoPhillips, providing a strong pipeline of talent. Providing mentors and advice to students is a critical component of the learning process, and we are dedicated to supporting the university and the next generation of finance and accounting leaders.”

In the ACE Lab, undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants give students the opportunity for one-on-one interactions and additional instruction on concepts from the classroom. These interactions go far beyond just understanding content — many students find mentors, forming lifelong relationships.

“This gift benefits our students in many ways as it allows us to employ more senior accounting students as ACE Associates and allows us to provide tutoring, advising and mentorship to all undergraduates taking an accounting course,” said Dr. Audrey Gramling, head of the School of Accounting. “ACE is not only an essential resource for students in need of assistance, it also helps ACE Associates develop leadership skills and stay current on their technical accounting knowledge.”
