Spears School of Business

Earn a dual degree

IEM + MS BAnDS
The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology and the Spears School of Business offer a dual degree program consisting of the Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management and the Master of Science in Business Analytics and Data Science. Participating students must apply and be accepted by the OSU Graduate College, the OSU Industrial Engineering and Management graduate program and the OSU Business Analytics and Data Science graduate program.

Where to begin

The dual degree program requires students to start with an MS IEM admission/acceptance with IEM courses only taken in their first year. They then apply for admission to the MS BAnDS program in the spring semester of their first year (before March 1) and if accepted into the MS BAnDS program, they then begin taking BAnDS classes along with IEM classes in their second year. Students can anticipate to graduate with an MS IEM degree by the end of their second year and exclusively enroll in BAnDS classes during their 3rd year. Graduation from the MS BAnDS degree occurs at the end of the 3rd year.

Students in the dual degree program will not take STAT 5013 (Statistics for Experimenters 1) or MSIS 5503 (Statistics for Data Science) as the material should be covered in IEM 5003 (Probability and Statistics for Engineers).

Students in the dual degree program will not take MSIS 5303 (Prescriptive Analysis) as material should be covered in IEM 5013 (Introduction to Optimization).
