Marketing is fundamentally about building relationships and trust to help customers
solve their problems in ways that benefit everyone. In the course of doing this, marketers
do research, use analytics, create and manage many types of communication, engage
in and manage professional selling, determine pricing strategies and develop distribution
channels.
Why marketing at OSU?
From startups to large corporations, firms need marketers. The U.S. Bureau of Labor
predicts faster than average growth for marketing manager jobs through 2029. Marketers
play an important and strategic role in the organizations they serve, from helping
determine strategic direction, providing key leadership, engaging customers, driving
revenue to launching innovative new products and services. Our faculty members bring
their knowledge and experience into the classroom, equipping students to think critically

The Center for Sales and Service Excellence allows students to develop professional
sales and customer retention skills. This prepares them for many roles across all
industries and helps them stand out and sell themselves. Through this program, students
frequently engage with professionals and complete courses that provide practical training
and experiential activities as part of the curriculum. Students that apply and are
accepted into the program attend monthly meetings and each semester are invited to
special networking events. The program is open to students of all majors.
The center for Social and Business Impact has a broad mission to facilitate research
by faculty members that results in high quality scholarly publications and meets the
needs of outside partners such as businesses, NGOs or government agencies. The center
also works with outside stakeholders to create opportunities for student engagement
through various projects, internships, professional workshops or other offerings.
Through the Eastin Center, OSU supports students’ professional growth from awareness
to knowledge acquisition, practice and ultimately successful implementation.
