SAS Analytics Day
Due to conditions stemming from the COVID-19 outbreak and after much thought and very careful consideration, we have decided to cancel the OSU SAS Analytics Day Conference scheduled May 6, 2020 in Stillwater, OK. It is our collective responsibility and concern for the health of our participants, that we have decided it would be most prudent to offer the event next year, in May of 2021.
We are hoping to keep the agenda the same for next year and simply change the date to May 2021 in Stillwater. The exact date is to be determined—but we will be in touch.
We sincerely appreciate your support, hard work, patience, and flexibility thus far. Please know that we are greatly disappointed that we will not be working with you this year, but are very much looking forward to the opportunity to collaborate on the conference in 2021.
I understand these are trying times for all and that we are, each of us, doing our best to get through them with grace. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out. Stay safe.

Goutam Chakraborty, Ph.D., is the SAS Professor of Marketing Analytics and Director of M.S. in Business Analytics and Data Science at the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. Goutam has presented numerous programs and workshops to executives, educators, and research professionals in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Australia and Middle East. He coauthored two books Text Mining and Analysis: Practical Methods, Examples, and Case Studies Using SAS® and Contemporary Database Marketing: Concepts and Applications. He has chaired several national conferences including the Direct Marketing Educator’s Conference, M2007 Data Mining Conference and SAS Global Forum 2018 Conference. He earned his B. Tech (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, PGCGM from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, M.S. in Statistics and a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Iowa.
Dr. Ramesh Sharda is the Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Programs, Watson/ConocoPhillips Chair and a Regents Professor of Management Science and Information Systems in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. He has coauthored two textbooks (“Business Intelligence and Analytics: Systems for Decision Support,” Tenth Edition, Prentice Hall and “Business Intelligence, Analytics, and Data Science: A Managerial Perspective,” Fourth Edition, Pearson). He is a member of the editorial boards of journals such as the Decision Support Systems,
Decision Sciences, and Information Systems Frontiers. He is currently serving as the Executive Director of Teradata University Network and received the 2013 INFORMS HG Computing Society Lifetime Service Award. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2016.
Brian Bickell is the Data Practice Director for InterWorks – a global IT and data consultancy headquartered in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He helps organizations like Google, Nike and GE extract maximum value from their data ecosystems. With over a decade of data architecture experience and a firm understanding of virtually every major database, Brian has a unique perspective on the ever-changing big data landscape.
Sean O'Brien has worked at SAS for the last 21 years - all of it dedicated to helping organizations and universities around the world learn and teach SAS. His experience includes developing and teaching custom courses and modernizing training programs. He led efforts to develop eLearning and deliver SAS training live over the internet. He also started the SAS Data Mining conference, now known as AX. Over the years he has helped hundreds of companies and thousands of people learn SAS.
Adam Mitchell is the senior vice president of business operations for Heartland. Mitchell oversees pricing, business intelligence, software development, project management and process improvement. Prior to his current role, Mitchell has served as the company’s director of sales operations and an analyst of sales operations. He currently serves on the Inclusion & Diversity Advisory Council for Heartland’s parent company, Global Payments. Adam holds a bachelor of science degree in economics from the University of Oregon.
Agastya Komarraju leads the CRM analytics vertical of the Sam’s club decision sciences team as an Associate Director. He is a Marketing science expert with 7+ years of experience in unified measurement, media mix modeling (MMM), multi-touch attribution (MTA), targeting, experimental test design, uplift response modeling and optimization. Prior to working at Walmart, he worked at LBrands and Nielsen using machine learning, AI and statistical analysis to facilitate data-driven decision making across retail, CPG, finance and telecommunication industries.
Ashray Thotambailu graduated with Master’s degree in Business Analytics from Oklahoma State University in 2019. Currently I work as a data scientist for INVISTA (a subsidiary of Koch Industry). I work with business partners to help solve problems related to procurement, supply chain and operations. My work involves building predictive models to reduce uncertainty in making business decisions. As data science is new to INVISTA, I have also contributed in advocating the uses of data science to solve business problems within the organization.
Maryam Jafari Chamkavi is a Retail Data Analyst working for Love’s Travel Stops and Country stores-headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, ranked No. 17 on the 2019 Forbes list of America’s largest private companies. As a data analyst, Chamkavi draws retail industry insights by implementing descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics techniques and data visualizations for large structured data. She collaborates with other analysts and business teams in the company to deliver data-related business solutions by creating and implementing models as well as developing statistical analysis for large data sets using analytics tools such as R, SAS, python, SQL and Tableau.
Anirban Chakraborty is a Senior Consultant in the FSO, Advisory Services practice of Ernst & Young LLP and is one of the core members of the fraud and financial crimes technology advisory sub-practice. He has about 5 years of experience in the Banking & Capital Markets and Asset Management industry serving clients in the financial crimes, fraud and enterprise regulatory compliance domains. His specific areas of focus include: application of technology and analytics techniques across financial crimes areas (e.g. fraud, AML, and cyber-security), risk assessment & management life-cycle, model validation, system implementation and configuration across all the pillars: prevention, monitoring and detection, and investigations.
Sridevi Loya works as a Data Scientist for ONE Gas, which is one of the largest natural gas utilities in the United States. She is responsible for developing and implementing advanced analytical solutions and has been recognized for exhibiting ONE Gas core value-Service. She has a curious mindset with a passion for problem solving. Sridevi graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2019 and was recipient of Outstanding Academic Achievement award.
