Im receives Outstanding Researcher Award

Spears School of Business faculty member Dr. Jinyoung Im recently received the Central Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (Central CHRIE) Outstanding Researcher Award.

Im, an assistant professor in Oklahoma State University’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, has published 21 peer-reviewed journal articles over the past five years with a career total of 32. She has experience on multiple editorial boards and provides leadership as a board member for Meeting Professionals International Oklahoma Chapter and Oklahoma Women in Lodging.

 

"Being recognized by fellow researchers in the field fuels my passion and commitment to continue my work, reinforcing the value of my contributions as a researcher," Im said. "I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to my co-authors, mentors, HTM colleagues and the Spears School of Business for their unwavering support of my research."

 

Im’s abundant scholarship covers organizational and consumer behavior, event planning, co-creation, food sustainability and gender dynamics in the hospitality and tourism industry. She has researched ways to improve women’s representation and inclusion at the C-suite level, receiving selection for the Spears Business Seed Grant Initiative in 2022.

 

Her latest award distinguishes her within Central CHRIE, which encompasses 14 states including Oklahoma. Central CHRIE and five other organizations constitute International CHRIE.

 

Im, who obtained her Ph.D. in human sciences from OSU in 2016, has accepted honors from Spears Business with the Richard W. Poole Research Excellence Award in 2023 and the Engagement with Practice Award in 2022. Previously, Im served as an assistant professor on the Berks campus of Pennsylvania State University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in tourism management and a master’s degree in tourism science from Jeju National University in South Korea.
