This training session is for any student interested in working on the data analytics volunteer module during the spring semester. During the training session, we’ll cover the purpose and expectations of the volunteer program, go over the legal agreements surrounding access to the data, and provide an introduction to HealthFacts data and the volunteer module. - Intro to CHSI and Data-Cleaning & Analysis Workshop on EHR Health Data

As part of the OSU Research Week events, get an introduction to CHSI’s mission and structure, as well as an overview of our unique capabilities plus ways to obtain access to the Cerner HealthFacts data. Dr. Zhuqi Miao will also be presenting a workshop to discuss the cleaning steps specific and necessary to work with the Cerner data, plus basic analytical techniques that can be applied. A case study demonstrating these techniques in action with regards to hip fracture readmission will be shared.
- Workshop on Data Mining using R
Friday, February 24th, 1 PM – 5 PM
As part of the OSU Research week events, get an introduction to R! This workshop is designed to train participants in how to perform data mining with R, a powerful statistical software. Specifically, this workshop will include a discussion on the fundamentals of R and two important packages (dplyr and ggvis) used in the domain of data mining. The workshop will consist of two segments. In the first half, learn the essential commands of R. In the second half, apply these skills to a case study.
