Training Resources

To help foster an awareness of and interest in health data analytics, CHSI is in the process of developing free training materials. Currently, CHSI has preliminary modules available for high school STEM students and medical students seeking to learn more about data analytics and whether it might be an area of future interest for them. Teachers, professors, and educators are also welcome to learn from and use the resources below for training purposes.

STEM Training Modules

The STEM training modules are targeted to students at the high school level, with the intent of helping students gain an exposure to and become familiarized with future careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Health data analytics is an exciting, growing, new field that is multidisciplinary in nature and incorporates skills in each of the four different areas of STEM. Each module includes a training video, sample data, and an instructor walkthrough that allow educators and parents to flexibly and easily incorporate the modules under a variety of different settings for teaching purposes.

Health Analytics Workshop

CHSI has partnered with the OSU High Performance Computing Center to develop a workshop for medical students and researchers interested in getting an introduction to health analytics. The modules are based on R, which is an extremely powerful and popular free analytics tool. The training includes an introduction to R, covers data visualization and basic statistics, and includes a case study with code that participants can apply on any future dataset to gain insight into their patient populations.
