Defensive Drafting of Employee Handbooks: Best Practices
12 noon-1:15 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2016
In an employment lawsuit, inevitably the plaintiff’s lawyer will first request the employee handbook. Anything in the handbook can and will be used against the employer. To reduce the odds of conflict, employers must give careful consideration to the employee handbook and its contents. This webinar will contain suggestions for handbook provisions that will be useful not just in the workplace, but in the courtroom. At the conclusion of the webinar, you will learn what a handbook should seek to accomplish, how to best articulate employer policies regarding such items as at-will employment, promotion, and access to personnel files, how to draft a harassment policy, as well as how to address conduct and benefit issues.
