Wednesday, March 8, 2023

OSU MS Business Analytics and Data Science student, Shreyan Datta Chakraborty, placed second at the 10th annual MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference Hackathon in Boston.

The competition took place March 2-3 and was hosted by the MIT Sloan School of Management, presented by Ticketmaster. More than 38 student teams participated representing more than eight different universities. Shreyan was paired at the competition with his teammate, Gathungu Ndirangu from San Diego State University.

Students were provided with customer data from three U.S. cities and asked to create recommendations for the expansion of sports franchises in these cities. They were provided with live analytics data from Ticketmaster and were asked to back up their assertions with analysis from the data and secondary research.

“I am delighted to have Shreyan finish in top-3 at this prestigious hackathon,” said Dr. Goutam Chakraborty, director of the business analytics and data science program. “This is a direct result of the hard work put in by our student and a testament to the education provided by our faculty to our students.”
