What documents are required to complete the admission process?
The following documents are required as a part of the application.
- Graduate College application form.
- Three letters of Recommendation
- Current resume (as an attachment to application form).
- Statement of Purpose discussing your strengths and weaknesses, and reason(s) for pursuing
this degree (as an attachment to application form).
- GMAT or GRE, with minimum scores above 51st percentile in each of the test areas.
- TOEFL/IELTS for international students.
How are parts of the application weighed?
Applications are weighted using a holistic approach. The past academic success of the applicants, their scores in GRE/GMAT, relevant work experience, their passion to pursue this degree which is measured from their statement of purpose and the letters of recommendation are weighted as a whole for the admission decision.
Is work experience required to apply to the graduate programs?
Is an interview required?
Work experience is considered as part of the overall application review process. While
strongly preferred, it’s not a mandatory requirement. As part of your application
process, we ask that you include a current resume to clearly outline your work history.
Interviews might be conducted for the selected applicants in the later stages of admission process.
Are TOEFL/IELTS scores required for all international applicants?
TOEFL/IELTS scores are required for students whose native language is not English or who have not completed their full four years of bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in the following countries: United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Uganda or New Zealand.
My GPA is out of 10; do I need to convert it?
No. The applicant does not need to convert their GPA to a 4 scale using WES.
Does the program have spring or summer intake?
The fulltime on-campus program has only fall enrollment. The online MSBAN program has both fall and spring enrollment.
What is the acceptance rate?
The acceptance rate for Fall 2016 batch was 21%.
Is M.S. in Business Analytics a stem degree?
Yes, the Master of Science in Business Analytics is a STEM designation program. Under this STEM classification, MSBAN international students can qualify for a 17-month OPT (Optional Practical Training) Extension making it a full 29 months of OPT.
Can the program be completed in 18 months or before?
No. The program structure is designed in such a way that typically it takes 4 semesters to complete the degree. However, in your last semester, you can do an advanced internship (Co-op) in addition to the summer internship.
Is there an online/distance base learning option?

Do you offer any financial aid or student loans?
Most student loans are based on either financial need or creditworthiness and are available only to US citizens and permanent residents. Eligible OSU graduate students can receive Subsidized Direct Loans, Unsubsidized Direct Loans, Federal Perkins Loans, and Federal Work-Study. Graduate students are not eligible for Pell Grants.
For financial aid purposes, OSU graduate students carrying nine or more hours that are required for their degree during the fall and spring semesters are considered full-time; graduate students carrying 4-7 hours that are required for their degree are considered half-time. Graduate students carrying 3 hours or less in the fall or spring semesters are not eligible to receive Subsidized or Unsubsidized Direct Loans.
Domestic students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The deadlines for submission of this form vary by state. The Institutional Code for OSU is 003170.
Do you offer any graduate assistantships?
The program does not offer graduate assistantships along with the admit. There will be a limited number of assistantships offered to students in their second semester based on their performance in the first semester.
Are there any prerequisite course requirements?
There are no prerequisite course requirements for this program. But it would be beneficial if the applicant has a basic understanding of database systems, programming, and statistics.
What is the typical cohort strength?
The typical cohort will be somewhere around 40 students. The purpose of having a low intake is to maintain a better student-faculty interaction.
