Graduate Certificate in Business Data Mining
This online program is designed to help working professionals who do not want to pursue a full master’s degree yet want to acquire data mining or predictive analytics or data science skills by taking a series of courses online. Working professionals admitted in this program can complete coursework in 12-24 months by taking courses online. Those enrolled in the graduate certificate in business data mining may be able transfer the credit hours to the MS in Business Analytics if they choose to apply for admission into the MS degree at a later date. Along with the graduate certificate in business data mining, students in this program may also receive all of the following three certificates (depending on courses taken, credentials achieved, etc.):
- SAS and OSU Data Mining Certificate (core level)
- SAS and OSU Predictive Analytics Certificate (advanced level)
- SAS and OSU Marketing Data Science Certificate (expert level)
Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering or Computer Science or other natural science and have the equivalent of at least a 3.0/4.0 undergraduate GPA. Other students may apply for admission to the program; such applications will be reviewed by the Program Director, who may recommend admission to the Graduate College.
The courses are offered online enabling working professionals to complete the certificate requirements at their convenience. To take a look at how online classes are conducted, view this tutorial. A broad range of elective courses also allows students wide flexibility to customize their course work and get three different SAS certificates in addition to the graduate certificate.

How do you get the certificate?
Once you are admitted into the program, work with your academic advisor to create a plan of study (POS) that reflects the courses you intend to take based on your interests. Then, in the last semester when you are completing all coursework, you must fill-in and file the certificate application by November 1 (for Fall graduation) or April 1 (for Spring or Summer graduation). This is considered a graduate diploma and the form must be filed properly by the deadline to receive it. After you complete all requirements, the graduate college will mail you your certificate to your home address on file. Typically, you will expect to receive the certificate from the graduate college about 6 weeks after your last semester of study.
